Topical Metronidazole
Metronidazole has both anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is available as an ointment for local application for the symptomatic relief of perianal Crohn's disease. The clinical study data demonstrates positive trends in the reduction of pain and discharge in subjects with perianal Crohn's disease. Phase III studies in patients with perianal Crohn's disease are being designed.
